There's No Place Like Oz

I was definitely not in Kansas but I wasn't inside the movie house anymore.
That's how i felt. (The child in me found it's imagination back and i was so eager to start the journey).

Finally! I saw Oz the Great and Powerful today after days of rescheduling. I rarely watch movies in the big screen. The last one I saw was Les Miserables last January. My plan was to watch it alone but thanks to Lem for the company. It was worth our money and time. I had fun watching, laughing and dreaming.

I have always been a fan of anything related to Oz. Admit it! Once in your life you imagined yourself (being Dorothy maybe haha) getting lost in the land of Oz and finding yourself counting steps and following the yellow brick road leading to the Emerald City - coz i once did... maybe until now i still want to. =D I loved Dorothy with her ruby slippers (That which can return her home by clicking her heals three times and saying ‘There’s no place like home’ repeatedly) and her allies, and, of the famous Broadway musical Wicked (which has a different story line and which starred Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda and Idina Menzel as Elphaba on one of its shows).

The movie left me hanging since it was a prequel. It made me miss watching the Wizard of Oz for it has been a really long while since the last time i did. I couldn't have imagined this latest installation of the series differently. They just did a superb job with the casting (that's on my opinion) and effects. I loved it so much that I wanted to watch it again.

When i was a kid i feared the Wicked Witch. Who wouldn't? I bet everybody did. It was sad that Theodora had to turn into the Wicked Witch of the West in the end with her heart filled with hatred of Oz. Look what love and jealousy did to her. I heard her say twice in the movie the line “So did i once,” every time the good people of Oz and Glinda would tell her they believe in the wizard (James Franco). Well, she just believed so much at her sister, Evanora the Wicked Witch of the East, that she tricked her to turning into a bad one. Theodora's not all evil y'know i have loved her from the very moment i saw her and until the end i so wished she'd change back to being her old self again but that would totally change the novel. =P So i set that thought aside.

I have always loved Glinda with her bubble. I bet it would be so much fun to have a ride on it. Hahaha.

I think we all have to bear in mind what the good witch of the South, Glinda, said to Oz when he doubted himself, "You are capable of more than you know."

I’ll get it on DVD once it’s out. I’m not over it yet especially Almost Home by Mariah Carey is on the top of my list right now.

Well despite the fact that there are differences from the original i give this a thumbs up and recommend the movie and the song to everyone.

(Pardon me. I just don’t know what to post about. Hahahaha. This is meant to break the silence in this blog. so, bye now i'ma go ride on one of Glinda's bubble and dream).
